Firstly, we want to thank everyone for sending in your applications. You are all amazing women with talents of your own right, and with so many applicants it’s an extremely difficult task. We have tried to pick a group of participants that is varied and balanced, with many different talents, values, experiences, and backgrounds.

Thank you all so much for sharing your wonderful stories with us and we hope to meet you in the Follow-Along ! The Follow Along lets you make your game with the workshop from home, on your own schedule. It’s open to everyone of all ages, experiences, and gender. We’ll even be providing you with a personal mentor to support, ask about your game’s progress, and give feedback. The Follow-Along also offers weekly meetups during the same period as the incubator where participants will receive support from our amazing mentors and alumnae. By making a game in our Follow-Along program, you will also be invited to participate in our showcase at the end of February 2019.

Without further ado, meet our participants in this year’s Pixelles Game Incubator VII.

In just six weeks, these twelve ladies will have designed, created the art, and coded their very first video game!

Josiane
JOSIANE TREMBLAY

Cheerful lady enjoying making illustrations, painting and crafting who wish to create video game art. Passionate about history, cinema, vintage fashion, video games and… basically a lot of other things, way too many things for her own good! She’s drawn to colourful and stylish games with endearing characters which allow us to dream.

Christina
CHRISTINA L’EUCATASTROPHE

I’m Christina and I’m a zinester. I made a zine with photos taken with the Game Boy Camera. It took me 30 years to beat Othello on NES. I am probably the only person who played the Hell’s Kitchen video game on DS. I am currently stuck at the entrance of Fallout 1 because I am reading the manual.

SOPHIE LAURIER

I love video games, learning about technology. I love a good storytelling and I might read a little too much manga. I’m curious and always love to explore and learn new things.

Jerika
JERIKA MELGAR

I am a 3D artist inspired to enter the world of gaming. Still a child at heart, I draw inspiration from my ultra-hip-cool interests such as cartoons (Sailor Moon fans where you at?!), comics, and video games. I’m excited to be able to create a game that marries all of my interests into one little package. Small, just like me!

♥ Our Gracious Hosts!

We would like to thank Unity Technologies Montréal for agreeing to host our Wednesday Incubator sessions and GamePlay Space for agreeing to host our Saturday Follow-Along sessions! Without their help, this program wouldn’t be as amazing! We’re thrilled to count them as allies who believe in the importance of diversity and furthering the role of women in video game development!
