When: Monday, August 31st, 2015 from 7-9pm
Where: Notman House (51 Sherbrooke Ouest)
Language: english
Cost: free

Nearly every indie dev has tried their hand at pixel art at some point. It is the most accessible and idealistic art style for many indie devs, as it is quick and simple to use, and does not require a lot of art experience or software knowledge to just make SOMETHING.

However, not all pixel art is good pixel art. This workshop is designed to help you improve your skills and show you how a REAL pixel artist does it. Whether you are a beginner, novice, or are already somewhat familiar with pixel art, there is a good chance you might learn something new!

All attendees will experience a 19-year-old give a brief history lesson on pixel art, showcase his own artistic process, as well as educate on how to get started making pixel art, how to improve, best practices, as well as a brief overview on sprite animation!

This workshop is open to everyone of all genders, ages, and experiences. Kids are welcome to participate but should be supervised by their parental guardian.

Before coming to the workshop:

  1. Graphical software of your choice (recommended: Photoshop, Aesprite)
  2. Bring your laptop or share with a friend

Workshop Leader: Andrew Gleeson

Andrew Gleeson is a young pixel artist and game developer from Melbourne, Australia. He has been creating pixel art as a hobby for 8 years, and was most recently the main artist on TITAN SOULS.
