Workshop: Proposing a Great Talk

CdxmCGGUkAUrcJW
When: Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 from 7-9pm
Where: 3rd floor of Notman House / Cafe OSMOS (51 Sherbrooke Ouest – rue Clark entrance)
Primary language: English
Cost: free

In this workshop, you should bring a draft of a talk submission that you want to improve. We’ll start with general tips, context, and process, and then dive into concrete examples of how to turn a mediocre talk pitch into something more likely to be accepted.

We obviously cannot guarantee that your talk will be accepted, but we can help build your confidence and clarify what you’re trying to communicate. We will focus on GDC submission process for most of the workshop, but many of the concepts apply to other conferences (MIGS, Comic-con, etc), and feel free to bring a different submission.

Open to everyone of all ages, backgrounds, genders, and identities.

Before coming, please prepare:

Bring a talk title, description, and your biography, as you would submit them. Ideally your description would have two versions — one long in-depth one for the committee, and one short one for attendees, but if you want to do that in the workshop that’s OK.

Laptops aren’t required for this workshop. You can bring your materials in paper format or with your own device (laptop, mobile, etc).
