Pixelles organizes a mentorship program for women (cis/trans) wanting to join the games industry. You’ll be paired up with a super, awesome mentor in your area of expertise (ex: level designer with a professional level designer).
Want feedback on your portfolio, code, and/or CV from a professional in your field? Wondering how to improve your chances in an increasingly competitive industry? We have a network of experts from every discipline, ready to give you honest guidance!Your mentor is there to give you advice, support, and answer any questions you have about making video games!
If you are accepted as an ‘apprentice’ your mentor will meet with you at least once in person (or via Skype, Google Hangout, etc), as well as, provide a minimum of 30 days of email correspondence, answering all of your questions and concerns. We’ll provide a theme – suggested topic of discussion – for you and your mentor at the start of each round.
You’ll also be invited to any mixers, networking events, or socials! So why not apply?!
Registration: 1:1 Mentorship Program
How much does this cost?
Can I still apply to be an apprentice if I’m not in Montreal?
Yes, you can! There’s always Skype, Google Hangout, and video chat as ways to communicate with your far away mentor. However, please note that we’ll be giving priority to those in Montreal and we’ll do our best to localize match-ups.
Hey, I’m a guy! Can I apply?
We’re sorry but for now applications are limited to those who self-identify as a woman (cis/trans).
Is this a job recruiting / will my mentor get me a job?
Absolutely not. This is advice on improving your CV, portfolio, questions you may have about the industry, how the mentors got started, etc.
I’m not 100% sure what profession I’d like to do!
If you’re not sure what you want to do (art, design, programming, etc), that’s okay — just pick one. It’s easier for us to figure out who to help you, if we have a starting point. We can always switch you around later, if you change your mind.

I want to be a mentor but I’m a guy!
That’s cool! We have mentors of all genders. As a guy, you too, can give great advice to aspiring game devs. Definitely fill this out!
I want to be a mentor but I’m not in Montreal…
We’d still love to have you as a mentor. Let us know where you’re from by sending us an e-mail (email@example.com). And, if you’re ever visiting our city, we’d love to get coffee, beer, or an infamous poutine with you!
