Workshop: Make a Tamagotchi game!

When: Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 from 7-9pm
Where: 3rd floor of Notman House (51 Sherbrooke Ouest – Clarke entrance)
Primary language: English (bilingual teacher)
Cost: free

Remember Tamagotchi? In this workshop, we’ll be making our very own virtual pet simulation game with Stencyl. You don’t need any previous experience, programming knowledge, or anything else. This is very beginner-friendly.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Break down the game’s design into steps and features
  • Make your tiny pet grow from an egg to an adult
  • Import art assets and animation
  • Manage stats & happiness
  • Pet actions such as feeding, pooping, and patting
  • If we have time: special events!

This workshop is open to everyone of all genders, ages, and experiences. Kids are welcome to participate but should be supervised by their parental guardian.

Preparation

  1. Download and install the latest version of Stencyl.
  2. Get the assets (or optionally: bring your own 2D pet assets)
  3. Enjoy the sun and have a glass of iced tea!
