When: Tuesday, June 27th 2017 from 7-9pm
Where: 3rd floor of Notman House / Cafe OSMOS (51 Sherbrooke Ouest – rue Clark entrance)
Primary language: English content (bilingual workshop leaders)
Have you wanted to give a workshop but were unsure of yourself or don’t know where to really start? Are you a seasoned instructor but could use a few extra tips on making your workshops more effective? This workshop about workshops will give advice from preparation, copy, tailoring content, audience participation, learner styles, and best practices for topics like art, programming, lectures, and more!
You’ll also hear from coordinators who have worked with beginners, alternative audiences, and run logistics around hosting workshops. Although this workshop will concentrate on game development skill and toolsets, much of it can be applicable to traditional tech/coding and other fields, as well. We’ll have time at the end to help folks out with their workshop ideas, talk about proposals, and encourage first-time teachers!
Everyone is welcome including non-game devs. However, please note that the space is not wheelchair accessible. No laptops are needed to participate.

Workshop Leader: Kim Hoang & Rebecca Cohen-Palacios
Kim has been running classes, workshops, and talk for/at Pixelles, TAG, En Masse pour les Masses, the Visual Arts Centre, and more. She coordinates some of the programming at the Toronto Comics Arts Festival, as well as administrative duties in her comics collective, Love Love Hill. She has a lot of opinions on structure, curriculum, and fun that she would like to share with you!
Rebecca has been coordinating Pixelles’ workshops over the past two years. Hoping to encourage more first-time instructors and alternative makers, she’s happy to talk about what she has observed, improved, and learned in her own experiences, as coordinator and instructor.
